Our History
Launched on 23 October 2014, by then Minister for Communications and Information, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, library@orchard is centred on lifestyle, design and the applied arts. Divided into The Studio and The Loft, we offer programmes and design-focused collections. Featuring a collection of about 100,000 titles, designated display areas and three programme zones that can be combined into one, library@orchard is both a community space and a contemplative cavern.
Interesting Facts
library@orchard was awarded Design of the Year under the President's Design Award Singapore 2015.
It was the first double-storey library located within a mall.
The library was conceptualised under a Design Thinking framework, where the Studio (L3) was designed to encourage co-creation and community learning, and the Loft (L4) for inspiration, reflection and contemplation.
