Bishan Public Library was officially opened on I September 2006 by Mr Wong Kan Seng, then-Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, and Member of Parliament representing the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. The library serves residents of Bishan, Marymount, and Upper Thomson.The Library occupies five floors and has a total surface area of 4,000 square metres.
Interesting Facts
In 2007, we were awarded the President's Design Award and Design of The Year Award - Singapore's highest design honour - for the avant-garde architecture of our building.
We were awarded the International Architecture Award in 2009.Our library resembles a tree house with 16 distinctive coloured pods which protrude from the side of the building. These pods act as spaces for quiet reflection.
