Our History
Bedok Public Library was officially opened on 28 September 1985 by Prof S Jayakumar, Minister for Law & Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Law. After 32 years, we shifted to our new premises at Heartbeat@Bedok, officially reopened by Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Communications and Information on 28 October 2017. We are on Levels 2 and 3 of Heartbeat@Bedok, together with other public service agencies including Kampong Chai Chee Community Club, Bedok Polyclinic & SportsSG.
Interesting Facts
- The themes of nature, landscape, and greenery are featured prominently in our library. The pillar wraps, colours and design in the library include landscape elements inspired by nature.
- We have about 200,000 items in our collection.
- The watering can and cute animal bookshelves at our Early Literacy area are inspired by our garden and greenery design theme.
