This is a photograph from E. A. Brown's collection. It shows various boats at the New Year Sea Sports on 1 January 1925. The annual regatta is held at the Singapore Harbour, off Collyer Quay. Several buildings can be seen in the background, with the Whiteaways’ building in the middle, the Hongkong Bank building on the far left, and the tower of Guthrie and Company’s head office (behind the Hongkong Bank building). The bow of the Varuna can also be seen on the left. Varuna, the Singapore Harbour Board service tug serves as the regatta’s Committee Boat. Date of creation estimated. Title devised by Library staff.
