Stories from the Stacks presents a small but diverse selection of nearly 50 artefacts from the Rare Materials Collection at the National Library, Singapore, as well as several items from the library’s other repositories.
Among the materials featured are a 1478 map of Asia, a compilation of 21 Dutch travel accounts to Asia between 1594 and 1642, an 1819 sketch of Singapore based on hydrographic surveys, a 19th century book of football rules written in Jawi and original handwritten verses by Tamil poet Ka Perumal.
The artefacts featured offer a peek into the Rare Materials Collection, which has more than 19,000 items spanning five centuries.
