Parenting without a support network, encouragement, and sharing of experiences can be exasperating and lonely.

This parenting book club aims to share alternative parenting perspectives and up-to-date tips and tricks to parent our children. We will read together, hold open discussion and take home some tips, so that we can better support our children and grow together as a healthy and strong family.

We are a literary arts platform in Singapore which supports a community of new, emerging and established prose writers to develop their writing craft. We provide a space for writers in Singapore to share their work, and to give and receive feedback.
Our focus is on writing craft and technique in a Singaporean context. We organise monthly workshops, and with each workshop we explore a specific thread of the writing craft, from writing about love, to the intricacies of worldbuilding. We’ve enlisted help from a diversity of local authors, from speculative fictionist Ng Yi-Sheng, to Akshita Nanda, Singapore Literature Prize Winner and Straits Times col-4umnist.

சிங்கப்பூர்த் தமிழ் எழுத்தாளர் கழகம் – கதைக்களம் சிங்கப்பூர்த் தமிழ் எழுத்தாளர் கழகம் 45 ஆண்டுகளாக சிங்கப்பூரில் தமிழ் மொழி வளர்ச்சிக்கும் தமிழ் இலக்கிய வளர்ச்சிக்கும் பணியாற்றிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் முத்தமிழ் விழா, கம்பன் விழா, மு.கு. இராமச்சந்திரா புத்தகப் பரிசு, கவியரசு கண்ணதாசன் விழா என நான்கு முக்கிய விழாக்களை நடத்துகிறது. ஒவ்வொரு மாதமும் சிறுகதை இலக்கியத்தை மையப்படுத்தி கதைக்களம் என்ற நிகழ்ச்சியையும் நடத்தி வருகிறது.

Association of Singapore Tamil Writers is one of the most active Tamil organisations in Singapore, actively promoting Tamil language and literature for the past 45 years. They organise four main events every year, namely, Muthamizh Vizha, Kamban Vizha, Mu. Ku. Ramachandra Book Prize and Kaviyarasu Kannadasan Vizha. They also conduct monthly Kathaikalam event focusing on creative writing especially on the short story literary form.

Maya Literary Circle was formed with the key objective of focusing literary discussions on Singapore Tamil Literature, ranging from short stories, poems all the way to novels. Through these discussions, we hope to generate greater interest in Tamil Singapore Literature and also create a healthy space in which both writers and readers can not only interact but also channel reviews about locally produced literary works to the writers themselves.

To read and review ancient Tamil Classics. To socialize literary criticism of such works among the general readers. To educate the youth on the rich and varied treasures of ancient Tamil literature cutting across region, race and religion.

 “கவிமாலை சிங்கப்பூர்” 2000-ஆம் ஆண்டு தொடங்கப்பட்டு கடந்த 20 ஆண்டுகளாக சிங்கப்பூரில் கவிஞர்களை உருவாக்கவும் ஊக்குவிக்கவும், அவர்கள் நூல்களைப் படைத்து, அச்சிட்டு, வெளியிடுவதற்கு தேவையான ஆதரவை வழங்கி, கவிதை இலக்கிய வளர்ச்சிக்குத் தொடர்ந்து களப்பணி ஆற்றி வருகிறது. இதுவரை கவிஞர்களின் சுமார் 125-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட நூல்கள் வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளன. 225 மாதாந்திரக் கவிமாலை நிகழ்ச்சிகளையும் கவிதைப் போட்டிகளையும் நடத்தியிருக்கிறார்கள்.

Kavimaalai Singapore is a registered Tamil Society for Tamil Poets. It serves to nurture Tamil Literature by grooming poets and offers a conducive environment for authoring, editing and publishing books on literature since 2000 annually. To date more than 125 books were published. For the past 20 years it has completed 225 monthly poet meets, workshops and poetry competitions.

வாசகர் வட்டச் சந்திப்புகளில் தமிழ் நாவல்கள், சிறுகதைகள், கவிதைகள், கட்டுரைகள் குறித்த ரசனைப் பகிர்வு, விமர்சனம், கலந்துரையாடல் ஆகியவை நடைபெறும். தமிழ் இலக்கிய உலகில் நடக்கும் சமீபகால மாற்றங்கள் குறித்து விழிப்புணர்வை உருவாக்குவதும் இந்தக் குழுவின் நோக்கம்.

Readers Circle conducts monthly meetings. A particular book or author will be chosen, read and readers will give their views. This will be followed by further sharing and discussion. Through these sessions people are encouraged to read more books. It aim i to develop a habit a lifelong serious reading among the Tamil Community.

Young Writers Circle / இளம் எழுத்தாளர் வட்டம்

இளம் எழுத்தாளர் வட்டம், தேசிய நூலக வாரியத்தின் கீழ் ஒரு கற்றல் சமூகமாக இயங்கி வருகிறது. இளம் தமிழ் எழுத்தாளர்கள் தங்கள் இலக்கிய திறன்களைச் செம்மைப்படுத்தவும் சிங்கப்பூர்த் தமிழ் எழுத்தாளர்களாக தங்கள் தனித்தன்மையான குரலைக் கண்டறியவும் ஆதரவு வழங்குவது அதன் நோக்கம். 2018-இல் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்ட இந்த அமைப்பு, தமிழ் இளையர்கள் மட்டுமல்லாது பொது மக்களுக்கான பல்வேறு தமிழிலக்கிய நிகழ்வுகளையும் முன்னெடுப்புகளையும் ஏற்பாடு செய்து வருகிறது.

Young Writers Circle is a learning community under the National Library Board. It strives to develop and support young Tamil writers committed to honing their literary talents and finding their distinct voices as Singapore Tamil writers. Having started in 2018, the circle has organised multiple literary events and projects not only for Tamil youths, but also the larger public in Singapore.

Thulir Reading Club / துளிர் வாசிப்பு முகாம்

Children

துளிர் வாசிப்பு முகாம் 2019 ஜனவரி மாதம் 26 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூரோங் வெஸ்ட் பொது நூலகத்தில் வாரம்தொரும் சனிக்கிழமை 6 – 7 pm இயங்க ஆரம்பித்தது. 3 குழந்தைகள் கொண்டு ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்ட இம்முகாம் இன்று ஒவ்வொரு வாரமும் 15 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட குழந்தைகள் தொடர்ந்துப் பங்கேற்க, மிக அருமையாக இயங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. இவ்வாசிப்பு முகாமின் நோக்கம் குழந்தைகள் மத்தியில் வாசிப்பை ஊக்குவிக்கவும், அவர்களுக்குள் இருக்கும் படைப்பாற்றலை வெளிக்கொணர்தலும் ஆகும்.

Thulir Reading Club started on 26 Jan 2019 at Jurong West Public Library from 6pm to 7pm. The club started with 3 kids but now we have an average attendance of 15 kids in our weekly sessions. The sessions are very successful. Our aim is to promote reading and creativity among children.

சிங்கப்பூரில் தமிழ் மேடை நகைச்சுவையை அறிமுகம் செய்து மாதம்தோறும் நிகழ்சிகளைப் படைத்து வருகிறவர்கள் “ரவா உப்புமா” நகைச்சுவைக் குழுவினர். வளமான தமிழில், தரமான பொருளை நல்ல நகைச்சுவை உணர்வோடு பேசும் பேச்சாளர்கள்தான் இந்த ரவா உப்புமா குழுவினர்.. அனைத்து வயதினரும் புரிந்து அனுபவிக்கக்கூடிய தேர்ந்த தமிழ் நகைச்சுவை விருந்து படைக்கும் இவர்களின் எதிர்காலக் கனவு தமிழ்மொழி சிரிக்க வைக்கவும் சிந்திக்க வைக்கவும் பிறந்த மொழி என்பதை நிலைநிறுத்துவதே.

The Centre for Singapore Tamil Culture (CSTC) aims to study, share and sustain aspects of Tamil culture in Singapore, as well as to build bridges across Singapore cultures for a better appreciation of each other’s culture.

 

CSTC will focus on programmes and publications that promote intercultural understanding. In so doing, it will collaborate with like-minded organisations and individuals to extend its reach and enhance its coverage

New to the world of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D)? Here's the place to start. Take a closer look at this legendary fantasy role-playing game and find out why millions of players worldwide have stepped into the boots of mighty heroes (and sneaky antiheroes) to create their own stories.

The core of D&D is storytelling. You and your friends will tell a story together, guide your heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue, and much more. All are welcome to these sessions. Newcomers and casual players can register their interest through Eventbrite and be led through D&D campaigns by our friendly Dungeon Masters. Veteran players can sign up directly via Warhorn.

In this book club, participants will discuss a variety of books from Shinichi Suzuki to Carol Dweck to learn about how to harness the talent that may already be inherent in children. 

What is talent? Is talent or the lack of it inborn? Why are some people more talented than others? Am I talented? How do I uncover my child’s talent? If you have ever wondered these questions or if reading them has now piqued your interest, come join us in unpacking the (not so) secret ingredients for creating talent, personality and success If you are a parent, come gain insight into nurturing an able and self driven child. From Average to Talented will journey through 3 modules: The Talent Mindset, Nurturing Ability and Growing Greatness in re evaluating the talent script, examining strategies that create talent, and continuing to grow talent for life.
