Volunteer Criteria and Opportunities

Volunteers are the lifeline of kidsREAD. They help to inculcate good reading habits in children and help them discover the joy of reading during the kidsREAD sessions.

Volunteer criteria:

  • At least 15 years old and above
  • Willing to manage children
  • Good command of the English language
  • Willing to commit for at least 6 months

Resources provided to volunteers:

  • Training for new volunteers on basic storytelling skills
  • Storytelling training videos
  • Volunteer Resource Guidebook, which provides suggestions on how each session can be carried out

The main aim for our volunteers is to get the children interested in books and to make reading a fun and enjoyable experience for the children.

Currently, the following kidsREAD clubs require volunteers. If you fulfil the above criteria and are able to volunteer at these clubs, please drop us an email at kidsREAD@nlb.gov.sg with your details and preferred club(s).
