This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Madam Zahrah Za'ba, Supervisor of the Malay Programme at the Radio Singapore from 1958 to 1974. She was the first woman teacher trainee at the Maktab Sultan Idris in Perak in the early 1930s. She joined the Radio Malaya in Singapore in 1948 and worked as broadcaster, newsreader, script writer and radio actress. Her father, Pendita Za'ba or Tan Sri Dato Dr. Haji Zainal Abidin bin Ahmad, was Malaysia's famous literary figure and scholar. Title devised by Library staff.
