This is a head-and-shoulders portrait of Miss Sophia Blackmore, the founder of Tamil Girls' School (later Methodist Mission School in 1895; Mount Sophia Girls' School in 1942) and Anglo-Chinese Girls' School (later Fairfield Girls' School) in July 1887 and August 1888 respectively. She also helped founded a boarding home for girls, Deaconess Home (later Nind Home) at Sophia Road in May 1890. She was Principal of Bible Women's Training School (1901-1903). Blackmore Drive was named after her. Title devised by Library staff.
