This work contains the text in the Bugis language followed by the English translation of the Bugis maritime laws. The first five sections on freight and passage money explain a prevailing mode of trading, the sixth section treats the freight of money, the seventh to the tenth sections treat on a mode of shares in trade and shipping, the eleventh to thirteenth sections regulate the amount of passage money. The fourteenth and last section concerns establishing the power of the Captain at sea. A vocabulary giving the pronunciation and meaning of each word and an appendix listing pronouns, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions and interjections are included.
