A screening of A Good Death and talk by Playwright Faith Ng
About Pro Series:
Pro Series is Central Arts Library’s annual series that features accomplished practitioners from the performing arts and design industry. Through talks or workshops, the invited speakers will share their experiences and give advice to budding and aspiring artists.
About the Programme:
Helping individuals live well, even as the machinery of one’s body is breaking down irreversibly, is vital yet exhausting work. How do palliative care workers do it? How does a playwright capture such stories and the complex emotions behind them?
Award-winning playwright Faith Ng has traversed many different seasons of life through her writing. Join us for a screening of the full archival recording of A Good Death (2018), a powerful theatre work on end-of-life care written by her. Directed by Chen Yingxuan, and featuring actress Karen Tan playing multiple roles in an empathetic solo performance, A Good Death was commissioned and produced by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay for its annual contemporary theatre season The Studios.
Stay on after the screening for a chat with Faith Ng and moderator Clarissa Oon, Esplanade's Head of Digital and Content, arts writer and former journalist, as they discuss the playwright's creative process.
This programme is held in conjunction with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay's ongoing online programme Replay – Screenings from the Esplanade Archives, part of its 60 Connections season.
