Grew up in Serangoon across New World. Played with cousins there everyday. Watched free movies because we were kids. Sat on steps of theatre. Little shopping centre before Mustafa, neighbourhood shopping. Only place there was air-conditioned to hang around. Peranakan (live in an old Peranakan house). Mum placed clothes under house. Kids played there too. Govt took over house & paid us about $1m.
