1960's I remember the Pasar Malam around the Kampong Kapur Methodist Church in the Jalan Besar area. It was a truly reminisce-like atmosphere, very crowded and packed by families for a night's shopping. A sure crowd-puller of a typical pasar-malam was the koyok-man, the medicine-seller, seeing Chinese medicines, herbal cures and aphrodisiacs. They were also called 'snake-oil' men as snake-based medicines were popularly inside.
