I was given 20 cents for school each day. 5¢ for drinks, 15¢ for mee siam or mee rebus. My school was in Chinatown and I lived in Bukit Merah. I took the bus to school with my sisters so I believed they had paid my bus fare. But everyday I would walked home from Chinatown to Bukit Merah for 4-5 years (in primary school).
