Early 1950s. My grandfather would take a rickshaw to Beach Road with my aunt to get a basket full of durians. To her, it's her fondest memory of her time with father. In the past, they will use a wooden stick specially for the durian, to open. I still have that stick! It's 70 years old! : ) (Memory collected from 'Roots: Tracing Family Histories' exhibition held at the National Library Building, Level 10 Promenade from 26 Jul 2013 to 16 Feb 2014)
