I participate in the national campaign of "Speaking Good English" organised by Ministry of Information and communications and the Arts. This campaign begins in September, 2012 and now it is still going on. The Speak Good English Movement encourages all Singaporeans to speak Standard English that is universally understood. Nowadays, English has become the most widely -used language in the world, so immersing in this fast developing world, it is particularly essential and useful for us to have a good English foundation and master necessary English skills so as to use proper English in our daily life and studying. the Movement organizes programs throughout the year for people to learn and speak good English in a fun and interesting way. These activities include workshops at the public libraries and the annual Inspiring Teacher of English Award. I just nominated my English teacher for the Inspiring Teacher of English Award. Good English teachers are worth being awarded and respected by us, because they have to hold the responsibility to impart language knowledge and spread out the importance of the English and inspire their students to consciously use the proper and standard English. I think through this campaign, we need to be aware of the importance of using the standard English and improve our English skills by taking place in these interesting activities.
