In the 1980s, we moved from our Kampong to our first flat at Stirling Road. At first we were very sad. All friends and family stayed nearby in the Kampong. Moving into different areas meant that we were not going to see them often. We also don't always have communication tools like phones. Those were still rare. Till today, I still have lost many close friends and family. We did however make new one in the new HDB, but there were fewer.
