i was enlisted into the Army on 18th March 1985. On the day of enlistment, i was wondering how the army life was. My dad drove me together with my mother and brothers to CMPB at Demsy Road after visiting the temple to seek for protection. At CMPB, i gave up my pink NRIC and exchange for the Army 11B NRIC, took the plege and march togther with the other new enlistee to the thonner waiting for us. The thonner took us to the supply base to collect our army staff and return back to Nee Soon Camp. When the OC of the Company shared with us this statement n i remember till todate: BY ENLISTING INTO THE ARMY IS NOT A FORCE BUT A DUTY FOR EVERY MAN. ITS A DUTY TO PRTECT THIS COUNTRY CALLED SINGAPORE...WITHOUT SINGAPORE THERE WILL BE NO YOU N ME.....WE HAVE NO ROOF OVER OUR HEAD CALL HOME....ITS A DUTY FOR US TO PROTECT THIS LAND WITH OUR LIFE...... Till the date i ROD from the Army till the end of my NSMAN life....this statement is burnt in the heart of mine....to protect my love ones and not to take this land of Singapore for granted....the peace that we have is a not come easy...but a hardwork of everyone in Singapore whom played their parts in protecting this Country....Happy Birthday Singapore....
