Information About

This story was contributed by my friend’s Grandfather who is now at the age of 93. He once lived in a kampong house in Nee Soon village. Back then, Lower Seletar Reservoir Park was engulfed by gambier and pepper plantations. Back then Nee Soon was populated by plantation workers around the estates. He even mentioned there is a hot spring in Yishun that is believed to cure skin diseases! He mentioned The spring was discovered by a municipal ranger on the property of Mr Seah in 1900s. Mr Seah’s Dad would also be well known as being the founder of the Ngee Ann Kongsi. Over the years of upgrading, the location of the Chye Kay Village(In the past) still had numerous rambutan, durian and guava trees which still continue to flourish today.
