Officially opened pm 17 December 1952, it was known as the Britannia Club. it closed on 30 April 1971, following the British withdrawal from Singapore. In 1973, The Singapore Armed Forces took over the building and it became known as the SAF NCO Club in 1974. The club moved to Jurong East in October 2001 and the building was designated by the URA as a conservation site on 9 October 2002.
