Born in 1951, I have very fond memories of Chinatown in the fifties, especially when it was close to Lunar New Year. I enjoyed and looked forward to my parents taking my siblings and I for shopping. I remembered accompanying my mother to the wet markets and witnessed the slaughtering of the hens. Sadly, we do not get to see Chinatown of yesteryear. Nowadays, the Lunar New Year in Chinatown is so commercialised. I really missed the old Chinatown!
