When I was still a young kid, like when I am only about 4 or 5, once I went to a shopping mall in Muar with my parents. I still clearly remember that that day the mall is very crowded. I was in a shop not far away from the entrance by then, and I noticed that people will have to pull/ push open the door to come in/ get out of the mall. So I thought to myself: Why don't I help these people to open the door? So I went to the door, and every time when I saw someone coming in/ going out to the mall, I helped them to pull open the door, wishing someone would say "Thank you" or at least smile at me. Unfortunately, people just walk past me without even took a glance at me. Finally, a man which I think is about 20 years old came to the door, I helped him to pull open the door, he turned back and smiled and said the 2 words which I wanted to hear: "Thank you" I never know who he is, but I will never forget his politeness which makes me still remember him until this day. Thank you, sir :) (Collected from "My Story" - a MediaCorp initiative to collect Singaporeans' memories of the broadcast media and related experiences as part of national heritage in collaboration with the Singapore Memory Project.)
