East Coast Park was built on reclaimed land. In the past, it was only plain sea, plus swampy stuff. Then in the 1960's, somebody thought up an idea and spread it about. His idea was to make reclaim land by dumping dirt, gravel and sand into the ocean. Then it would fill up and the country would gain more land.
