Early 50s. My fondest memories: We are able to buy street food from peddlers by simply lowering a little basket (with an empty bowl) and the bowl would be filled with yummy food. We would haul up the bowl & lower our payment. (i.e.. if you lived in upper floors). Street food (from tick tock man were yummy & cheap (5 to 10 cents).
