Though the grounds of Katong Convent were not as palatial as CHIJ Jalan Khairuddin, my primary school, there were peaceful corners were friendships were strengthened, anxieties dispelled, and hearts emboldened. Besides the shrine of Mother Mary, the chapel held a special place for me with its white walls and simple furniture. Another place was the garden near Sister Josephine’s hut where I remembered many happy times chatting with friends. The little garden was studded with white marguerites, yellow daisies, orange marigolds and purple periwinkles. “Memories collected from the School Reunion Contest held from 15 July to 9 Aug 2012 in collaboration with SPH and sponsored by Singapore Flyer.”
