I used to stay in a rented HDB flat at Jalan Aman. All our neighbours, we may not know, but we children used to run in and out of our neighbour house, with ease as their doors are always opened. Neighbour who has a TV would even open the door and welcome us to watch with them. It was carefree indeed.
