The Singapore River is the most famous river in Singapore. It is the place where Raffles made the 1st trading port in Singapore .It spans 3.2 km from the sea to it’s upper reaches in Kim Seng Road. The river is now part of the Marina Reservoir after damming the Singapore River at its outlet to the sea to create a new reservoir of freshwater. HDB flats are common in Singapore. They were built primarily to provide affordable housing for the masses. Each HDB flat considered a vertical community, with common area built into the design to promote social interaction. They also have “void decks“ which refers to the first level which are often left devoid of housing units. HDB Flats also has car parks near them, it is for the residents to park their car so that they can get to their car quickly for work in the morning. Some schools are also close to the HDB flats. It is to make it easier for the students to reach school especially if they are living close by.
