Information About

I was born in Singapore, in 1956, spending most of my childhood in St Michaels estate. My family lineage goes back to about 100 years. My great-grandfather was from China. They travelled by boat to Singapore. The grandfather bought a rubber plantation in Singapore, so most of his children worked for him. This stopped at my generation, when synthetic rubber was introduced. My grandfather gave up his business. From what I know, they all stayed together till the 3rd generation, where they moved out into their own flats. Intially, they stayed at boat quay. They moved to house at St Michaels estate and Braddell Heights when my grandfather bought the rubber plantation. The family was well-off, all living under the same roof with servants. After closing the rubber plantation business, my father worked in several different industries. They also sold the house at St. Michaels estate, but kept the one at Braddel Heights, which only my grandfather was residing in. I had neighbours from different ethnicities. My family spoke English, Bahasa Indonesia and Hokkien, so language was not a barrier for us.
