During my primary school days, and like most of my schoolmates, I would take the school bus to and from school because our parents were busy with work making Singapore a better place. Thus the school bus was always crowded, noisy and the frequent fightings between students over who was 'cleverer'. Fun times perhaps but also I envied those classmates' parents who could come pick them after class, they always seem happier. 30 year later, and my daughter is also in primary school now. With much better work life balance opportunities than what our parents could afford, I see that most parents are also picking up their own children from school. The rows of parked cars causing minor traffic jams outside of the school daily is little compared to the joy it brings to parents like myself of being able to fetch our kids from school. Life has indeed gotten better for most of us. Attached is a picture of the lovely girl whom I pick up from school daily. Thank you (and all the parents of my bus mates) for making Singapore a better place than it used to be.
