MY FIRST PARTICIPATION IN NDP When i was a kid, I remember that each time when the National Day approached there will be a celebration at school. I used to participate in the National Day Concert. I sang in the school choir and also play the harmonica in the instrumental group. At the end of the day, each student was given a packet of biscuit and souvenirs. We were so excited. I can still remember, on the day of National Day my dad used to bring us to watch the parade and the fireworks at the Padang. He also brought the Kampung children along. He used to carry me on his shoulder so that I can clearly see the parade. At that time no ticket is required. I do not understand what National Day was then. All I know there is a parade and float on that day. Since the ticket system I have not seen a live NDP but we watched it over the television and have not missed any of the parade. As I grew older, I finally understand what it's meant and proud to be a Singaporean. No matter which country I when to, I always compare to Singapore, a clean, systematic, prosperity and harmony country. I always thankful to be born a Singaporean. I finally have a chance to participate in the NDP 2012 under the private sector representing POSB Saving Bank contingent. I have never march before. This is my first time participated in a parade. It was tough to stand for 70 minutes especially for someone who has a back problem. I almost give up half way but our leader encouraged me. When actual day arrived I was excited and proud marching along all the contingent. When finally its over there is a feeling of satisfaction and proud that I manage to complete without any mistake. I'm proud to be a Singaporean and will do it again if given a chance. MAJULAH SINGAPURA.
