My great grandfather hailed from Wen Zhou, Zhe Jiang. He came over to Malaysia to start a business. As a businessman, he dealt with the carpentry and then came over to Singapore to do business. That was when he met my great grandmother. Back in those days, there was only Malaysia Federation and no need for a checkpoint between Singapore and Malaysia. My great grandparents got married and then, my grandfather was born in Singapore. As a fact, my grandfather was born in Singapore but actually he is a Malaysian. Hence, my family actually has close ties with our Malaysia.
