I grew up in Boon Keng area in Singapore. Spending most of my time playing video games at my friends houses. As a pragmatic person, I made efforts to volunteer and see my efforts/donations and volunteer work yield results that allow me to see that i have made a difference in someone’s life. Improving standards of living or merely helping someone with basic meals. My neighbours consisted of families from different backgrounds and all of us lived happily. There were times when we ate dinner and lunch together due to festive occasions. The answer to this question exists in a dichotomy state. There are corporations who have set up disabled friendly workplace environment to help disabled integrate into workforce along with help from government aided programs to facilitate the integration. Whereas in a communal setting much work needs to be done beyond having disabled friendly infrastructure in buses or place which means a profound shift in the mindset of the society needs to be brought.
