Chidambaram is a city in India, which houses a famous temple where Lord Siva resided in the form of Nadaraja. He is mainly worshipped by all dance lovers as he is personified as a cosmic dancer. Chidambara Ragasiyam is based on various stories that are attributed to Lord Siva and his adventures on earth. Chidambara Ragasiyam presented as a dance drama with dance items performed in Bharathanatyam style. Neila presented this production with a much expected grandeur of mythological story using elaborate costumes, ornaments and scene settings. This is part of her main season production with a purpose to depict the importance of understanding the Hindu religion and its connection to dance and humanity. It is an important landmark in Neila’s life as this production marks 50 Golden Years of artistic excellence.
