Abstract
In 1992 African American politician Carol Moseley Braun ran for the United States Senate. The US Senate is made up of 100 senators. Most of the senators at the time were white men. Moseley Braun wanted the Senate to more closely reflect American society. She argued that all people are supposed to be represented in a democracy.
