Abstract
Mee Pok Man: Tells the tale of a dim-witted noodle-seller's bleak relationship with a prostitute. "Lonely, misunderstood and ridiculed, the Mee Pok Man runs an all-night noodle stall in a notorious part of Singapore. His patrons are a motley assortment of hookers, pimps, outlaws and thugs. Among them is Bunny, a disillusioned prostitute who desperately wants to escape her vicious pimp. When the Mee Pok Man "rescues" Bunny after a hit-run-accident, a bizarre and touching love emerges." , 12 storeys: Tells the story of three residents of an apartment block in Singapore: A lonely hawker desperate for the affections of his materialistic Beijing born wife; a repressed civil servant obsessed with the sexual exploits of his wild teenage sister, and an overweight single woman pushed to the brink by an abusive mother and sniggering neighbors; all lives of hopelessness and frustration. The questions remaining are: Will they find hope? and, can they find redemption?.
