Abdul Ghani Hamid manganggap Delima Merah di Jari Manis sebagai sebuah novelette. Karya ini mengisahkan kehidupan susah yang dihadapi seorang artis dan teman-temannya. Ia juga memaparkan hubungan sosial antara anggota dari berbagai bangsa. Berlatar belakangkan kehidupan di Singapura, Delima Merah, sepertimana hasil karya beliau yang lain, sangat menumpukan isu-isu dan perhubungan sosial. Karya pernah diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Cina., Abdul Ghani Hamid refers to Delima Merah di Jari Manis as a novelette. The story revolves around the hardships of a young artist and his friends. It also examines social relationships between people from different ethnic groups. While set in modern Singapore, Delima Merah, like his other plays and novels are heavily focused on social issues and relationships. The work was also translated into Chinese.
