Abstract
Program done in a magazine format that attempts to bring the experience of art to an audience in a media-saturated society. Passage follows the path and development of artistes' struggles and achievements. State of the art considers events that have or are taking place in Singapore. Gallery features accomplished persons from various art forms commenting on the development of the art form in Singapore and around the world. In this episode, Passage features the unique printmaking process used by Cristene Chang in her weaving series. Next, we look at the efforts by Arts Central, Singapore's only Arts Television Channel, to help the average Singaporean gain an insight into both local and foreign arts. Woon Tai Ho, CEO MediaCorp, Lynette Pang, General Manager, Singapore Repertory Theatre, Haresh Sharma, Resident Playwright, Necessary Stage and Ken Low, Resident Music Director, Action Theatre, give their insights on the subject. In Gallery, we learn more about the Sitar and Indian classical music by listening to Anoushka Shankar, a talented Sitar player and Susanta Chowdhury, a sitar teacher from the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society.
