The 4th and 9th works are cantatas. The 1st work originally for voice and piano, here performed by 5 male singers with piano; the 2nd and 4th for SSSAAATTTBBB; the 3rd, 5th, and 7th for piano solo; the 6th for SATB (sung by 8 singers); the 8th work for vocal quartet (SATBar); the 9th for vocal sextet (SSATBarB); the 10th work for solo voices (SATBar) with accompaniment of seven singers (SAATTBB) and piano. Title from disc label. Program notes principally by Robert Hollingworth and Hugh Keyte, in English with French and German translations, and texts with English translations (57 pages : portraits) inserted in container. Recorded. 2015 June 29-July 2. All Saints Church, Tooting, London. I Fagiolini (solo voices; variously 3 sopranos, 4 altos, 6 tenors, 2 baritones, 3 basses) ; with other vocalists (in the 4th work) ; Robert Hollingworth, conductor ; Anna Markland, piano (1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 10th works).
