Abstract
Video recording of an interview with Iskander Jalil, 1988 Cultural Medallion Recipient for Visual Arts. In the interview, "Iskander talks about being awarded the Cultural Medallion, his immersion in Japanese pottery aesthetics, his study of textile, fabric printing, weaving etc. in India, and his contribution to Singapore. He shares how the "wabisabi" and "shibu" forms of art appreciation and his travels to 3-4 countries a year throughout his earlier years influenced him. Although people in Singapore associate him with murals, Iskandar reveals that he is more inclined towards developing and teaching pottery in Singapore"--Container.
