Information About

Librarian Janice Loo and former Methodist Girls’ School teacher Mrs Ann E. Wee present "My Favourite Recipes", a timeless cookbook and reflection of Singapore’s multi-cultural culinary heritage by Mrs Ellice Handy, the first local principal of Methodist Girls’ School. Unlike many cookbooks of the mid 1900s that were written by expatriate women in Malaya, Mrs Handy’s cookbook stood out for featuring mainly not European recipes, but local recipes, including crab and prawn ball soup, otak-otak and coconut candy. From the Stacks is series featuring rare materials of historical significance in the National Library Singapore’s collection.
