This 1968 photograph was taken from Oxley Road (perpendicular to Orchard Road) and shows a shot down Orchard Road with its row of shophouses. Shophouses are of various styles (e.g., early shophouse style, late shophouse style). Orchard Road was so named due to the orchards and plantations that existed there until the turn of the 20th century. Title devised by Library staff.
