This is a profile of Mr. Chiam See Tong (詹时中), a lawyer and Member of Parliament for Potong Pasir from December 1984 to April 2011. He was a teacher at Cedar Girls' Secondary School (1964-1972); a lawyer (1974-2002); the founder member (1980) and Secretary-General of Singapore Democratic Party or SDP (1981-1996). He left SDP to join Singapore People's Party (SPP) in 1996. He served as Chairman of Singapore Democratic Alliance (2001-2011). His wife, Mrs. Lina Chiam nee Loh Woon Lee, was Vice-Chairman of Potong Pasir Town Council (2001-2011) and Singapore People's Party Central Executive Committee (2010-2011).
