This is a close-up of Mr. Haji Maarof bin Haji Salleh, Member (1986-1995), Vice-President (Aug 1995-Nov 1996) and President of Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) or Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Nov 1996-Aug 2003). He was a teacher at Nanyang Junior College (1990) and Fajar Secondary School (1994); President of Malay Language Teachers' Association (1993); Vice-Principal of Yishun Secondary School (Dec 1994-1995); Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (2003-2005); and Director-General of Centre for Contemporary Islamic Studies (2005-to date).
