This is a side view of the 9-storey Specialists’ Centre (later Specialists' Shopping Centre) and the adjacent 15-storey Hotel Phoenix along Orchard Road. On the right is a partial view of Cold Storage Shopping Centre. The Specialist Centre at 277 Orchard Road was built at the former site of Pavilion Cinema in 1972. It housed 5 shopping floors and another 4 floors of medical specialist clinics, and also housed Robinsons, a leading department store until 1983. Hotel Phoenix was established by Dr. Tan Chin Tuan in 1972 and was closed for redevelopment in August 2007. Title devised by Library staff.
