This 1982 photograph depicts Spring Street, from Banda Street. Two-storey shop houses can be seen on the left side of the road. Hawker stalls line both sides of the streets, manned by hawkers. An elderly woman dressed in a samfu selling vegetables with another sitting near her can be seen in the foreground. Spring Street is named after a spring which supplied water to the area.
