This is the façade of the old Outram School along Outram Road. Outram Road School, named after Sir James Outram (b.1803-d.1863), a British general who fought in the 1857 Indian Mutiny, was declared open by Sir John Anderson, Governor of the Straits Settlements, on 26 February 1906. By 1939, the school was renamed "Outram School". In 1958, girls were admitted to the school for the first time. In 1961, it was renamed "Outram Secondary School". On 23 October 1968, the school was relocated to York Hill, off Chin Swee Road. The old school building at Outram Road was demolished. Between 1994 and 1996, it was relocated temporarily to 10, Winstedt Road while new school buildings were built at York Hill. The new premises was declared open on 28 August 1999.
