This is a photograph of Sungei Whampoa taken in 1983. It shows a stretch of the river with the banks on both sides. Houses of 2-3 storeys are located on both sides and separated from the river by a fence of wooden planks. The Montgomery Bridge and a taller building can be seen in the distance. Sungei Whampoa used to stretch from Lornie Road to Serangoon Road. Title devised by Library staff.
