This photograph shows Ming Arcade during its construciton. Completed in 1982 and envisioned by Tay Kheng Soon and Chung Meng Ker, the architectural style of Ming Arcade can be characterised as modernism with a touch of innovation. This is evident through its incorporation of rectilinear structures and unexpected splashes of contrasting colors, which disrupt the monotony of the overall design. In recognition of its ingenuity, the arcade received the Singapore Institute of Architects Design Merit Award in 1983.
