This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Professor Chan Heng Chee, Singapore's Ambassador to United States since 1996. She served as Executive Director of Singapore International Foundation; Director of Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (1993-1996); founding Director of Institute of Policy Studies; Permanent Representative to the United Nations and concurrently High Commissioner to Canada and Ambassador to Mexico (1989-1991). She received the "International Woman of the Year" award by the Organization of Chinese American Women in 1998; the inaugural "Woman of the Year" award by Her World magazine in 1991; and the Government of Singapore Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 1999 and Meritorious Service Medal in 2005.
