This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Reverend Father Chew Hock Hin, Pastor of Geylang Straits Chinese Methodist Church (later Pentecost Methodist Church) from 1932 to 1965. He was Preacher of Malay Service at Geylang Methodist Church (1932); Pastor of Paya Lebar Methodist Church (1934-1946, 1949-1957) and Trinity Methodist Church (five years); Chaplain of Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' School; and District Superintendent for Straits Chinese District of Malaya Annual Conference of Methodist Church (1946-1954). He was the youngest son of Mr. Chew Boon Lay (b.1852-d.1933), a prominent businessman and founder of Ho Ho biscuit factory in 1898. His wife, Mrs. Chew Hock Hin nee Khoo Chin Bee, the daughter of Reverend Khoo Chaing Bee, was Principal of Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' School (1935-1958). Title devised by Library staff.
